Ah, be not proud, for thou wilt see
Gravely - who knows ?
Growing almost tired
How stupid in the wind
In this sea-pause tht chains me as its own
Kneeling, deep inhaled
O these things have lasted long for us
On a Grecian Urn
Roses in water die
The jewel that pulses in the throat
Through the ringing dust-groups
Upward-seeking, the Self

 selected Poetical Works 17-26 years

“Some poems are for the Voice, some for the Heart some for the Soul and some for the Mind, yet grand or simple, each may lead away and away ……… “.

Excerpts from  ‘Selected Poetical Works 17-26 years’ by Marijke Alida

“Most artistic endeavour, in whatever medium, if truly ‘Art’, is nothing more, nor less, than the successful recall and skilful expression of, inspirational experience.”

“Poetry is the expression in disciplined form, of what is remembered after flights of inspiration and the difficulty of its birthing process is partly due to the difficulty of remembering one’s experience during such ‘flights’.”

“Poetry, when either created or read, becomes a catalyst for expanding a person’s creative, immune, psychological, mental and spiritual, potential”

“Please know here that one, either as a child or adult, does not need to fully understand a poem (as distinct from verse) in order to receive love, understanding, pleasure or learning, from it - for Poetry, being after all, the literary shell, merely, in which something wonderful and true is wrapped, that shell content can bypass its outer wrapping and speak directly to the heart, the brain and the soul.”
